Charles L. Warren is an attorney with Patti, Hewitt & Arezina LLC where he practices intellectual property law with an emphasis on patent law. His experience includes strategic planning and development of patents as assets for clients, infringement and validity analysis of patents, international patent filing strategies, licensing negotiations and agreements, assistance in litigation, and patent prosecution. Technical areas of experience include telecommunications, switching and data transmission, speech recognition, software implemented inventions, wireless technology including RF and microwave technologies, and optics.

Mr. Warren was formerly Managing Corporate Counsel for Lucent Technologies Inc. (1991-2001) at Naperville, Illinois where he led an IP-Law group and was responsible for IP operations at several Lucent locations including foreign offices in the United Kingdom and Japan. He also participated as a member of Lucent's IP council that set IP strategy for Lucent. Mr. Warren also served as a Division Patent Attorney with Motorola, Inc. (1982-1991) where he served a variety of business units including the Corporate R & D Center, International Division, and the Information Services Group. One of his assignments at Motorola was maintaining and protecting the MOTOROLA trademark worldwide. Mr. Warren was an associate at the McDougall, Hersh, and Scott law firm (1979-1982) where he split his time between assisting in patent litigation and patent prosecution. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Warren practiced electrical engineering (1970-1975) in the Communication Sector of Motorola, Inc.

Mr. Warren received his J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 1978. He also received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Midwest College of Engineering in 1973 where he also completed several courses in the Master of Engineering Administration program. His undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, was received from the University of Tennessee in 1970. Mr. Warren is licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois, before the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and is registered to practice in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
